Geiranger is a well-known tourist destination in Norway, and the first tourists came as early as in 1869 when the first tourist yacht, Nereid, arrived. Hotel Utsikten was part of a rapid development of the village when it opened in 1893. Among others, emperor Wilhelm II stayed here several times.

The hotel has been rebuilt and expanded several times since it opened. Now it has a total of 29 rooms in various categories, all with beautiful views towards either the garden or the fjord.
