The trip starts with instructions of the basics of kayaking from one of the experienced guides. Once you’re ready, you’ll be given a stable tandem kayak, and you will venture out onto the fjord with the group. The guide will be there to support you and will share their insights and fascinating stories about the history and wildlife of the area.
Sightseeing from a fjord perspective
Kayaking on the Aurlandsfjord from Flåm is like being in a postcard. You are surrounded by steep mountains on all sides with views to beautiful waterfalls and small settlements scattered along the shoreline. Among the highlights is the view of the old cluster farm, Otternes, approx. 5 km from Flåm. On the return trip to Flåm, you’ll have a panoramic view of the charming town centre.
Remember to keep an eye on the actual fjord. You might spot a seal sunbathing on a rock or a porpoise popping its head out of the water!
