A Lofoten experience at Reine Rorbuer

Reine Rorbuer has a total of 39 cabins in different sizes and categories. Most of them have sea views and all of them are located just a few steps away from the crystal-clear water. The “rorbu” cabins were originally where fishermen lived during the fishing season. Even though the cabins have been modernised to a hotel standard, you will still get a sense of going back in time when you enter them. In addition to the cabins, Reine Rorbuer has one room and two apartments for rent.

All cabins have en-suite bathrooms and WiFi, and most of them have fully equipped kitchens – perfect if you’d like to catch your own fish for dinner!

Gammelbua restaurant

The building that currently houses Reine Rorbuer’s restaurant Gammelbua used to be the general store in Reine and dates back to the end of the 18th century. You’ll feel like you’re travelling back in time when you enter the restaurant – with its original wooden interior and cosy fireplace. If the weather allows, you are welcome to sit outside on the terraces that overlook the breathtaking Lofoten landscape.

Gammelbua offers interesting and tasty dishes based on local and seasonal ingredients, prepared using both traditional and international methods.

Outstandingly beautiful Reine

If you Google “Lofoten” there’s a fair chance that an image of Reine will be the first to appear. This small fishing village, located far out on the western part of the archipelago, is one of the finest examples of Norwegian culture and nature. It is surrounded by rugged peaks and the mighty waters of the Norwegian Sea.

Reine is a destination for those who are seeking tranquility, as much as for those who are seeking adventures and an active holiday. The short days in the winter months provide opportunities for spectacular views of the Northern Lights, and the long summer days with the Midnight Sun are perfect for hiking or kayaking on the crystal clear Reinefjord.
