The Fjords

The Fjords is a company that brings together maritime expertise and tourism, offering unique fjord-based experiences on innovative, zero-emission vessels. Founded in 2015 by Flåm AS (now Norway’s Best AS) and Fjord1, the company set out to lead the way in sustainable travel in the stunning fjord landscapes of Western Norway.

Today, The Fjords operates in some of Norway’s most iconic fjords — Nærøyfjord, Geirangerfjord and Oslofjord — delivering unforgettable, environmentally friendly journeys.

As of May 2024, The Fjords is fully owned by Norway’s Best Group AS.

Pushing the boundaries with World-Class Design and Leading Innovations

Powered fully or partially by electricity with a universal design and unobstructed views - our catamarans have set a new standard for tourist ships. The catamarans are world leaders in the design of lightweight, high-speed passenger ships made from carbon fiber.

Tourism For All

The three catamarans are designed and constructed in Norway by Brødrene Aa in Hyen, inspired by trails found in nature. The layout of the catamarans facilitates for all passenger groups and makes it easy moving about to get to get the best views on board.

Tall panoramic windows give a full view of the spectacular fjord and landscape. There is plenty of room between the spacious furniture, and the walkways are reminiscent of wide walking paths due to the materials and colors used. The walkways also provides access for passengers with wheelchairs, prams or reduced mobility together with everyone else. All doorways have ramps and railings.

You'll find a broad selection of delicious food and drinks from local suppliers for sale on board.

The Fjords crew

Our crew at The Fjords are highly qualified and skilled seafarers. They are our public face and looks after our guests. It is important to us that all our passengers feel safe and are well taken care of.

Green Innovation

Our passenger catamarans represent a new generation of tourist boats. With zero emissions, they are in tune with the transition towards a greener future and make it possible to visit areas especially vulnerable to pollution in a safe and careful manner. We want our guests to enjoy the beautiful landscape around the fjords with a clean conscience.

We work closely with local businesses and manufacturers. The surrounding community is an important part of our green journey.

Environmentally Friendly Role Model

We are proud to lead the way towards green tourism in the Norwegian fjords. As a tourism business, we have a clear environmentally friendly profile.

  • Emission-free operation
  • Technical and operational solutions with commercial sustainability
  • Lowest possible energy consumption
  • Optimal solutions for battery and charging
  • The ships are designed to prevent wave erosion along the shoreline

Powerful Impressions With Minimal Footprints

Without noise, vibrations or exhaust - the silent engines are gentle towards the environment and offer the guests a heightened nature experience. Sounds of waterfalls, waves crashing and birds chirping can be heard whilst sailing along the fjords. Smaller waves lead to minimal wear and tear of the shoreline and zero emission help us keep our fjords clean.

We care about the generations that will come after us.
