Om Myrkdalsekspressen
The chairlift is located right next to Myrkdalen Hotel and takes you up to 860 meters above sea level in just five minutes. From there, you can continue on beautiful hiking trails or take a short walk down to Fjellstova Vetlebotn for a delicious lunch.
If you’re looking for a summit hike, we recommend Finnbunuten at 1,358 meters above sea level. From the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of famous glaciers like Hardangerjøkulen, Jostedalsbreen, and Folgefonna.
For a shorter hike, head to the idyllic Mørkvesstølen. Along the trail, you’ll find crystal-clear river pools—perfect for a refreshing swim on warm summer days.
The lift runs daily from July 4th to August 17th, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Useful information
Think about this before taking the lift
- No matter what the weather is like when you start your hike, remember that mountain conditions can change quickly—bring appropriate clothing.
- Children under 10 years old and under 140 cm must ride the chairlift with an adult.
- The chairlift may close on short notice due to poor weather conditions.
- If you are pregnant, have reduced mobility, heart problems, or a fear of heights, you should consider whether the lift is suitable for you. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
- Bicycles are not allowed on the lift.
- Individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted to use the lift.
