First class cruise on the Nærøyfjord

Our modern vessels are designed to maximize the sightseeing experience. They are fully electrical with no noise or emissions disrupting the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. Here you will get the feeling of gliding through the fjord, very different from what you experience on the more traditional passenger vessels.

Tall panoramic windows give a full view to the marvellous landscape of the calm fjord, tall mountains, and beautiful waterfalls when sitting inside the lounges.

The walkways outside are inspired by the winding trails going up the steep mountains next to the fjord. There is at least 1 meter railing for all passengers, giving you plenty of space to enjoy the view. The full universal layout means everyone can get around the ship inside and outside as they wish.

Sailing through Nærøyfjord

You can begin your fjord cruise from either Flåm or Gudvangen. If you travel from Flåm, the vessel will begin its journey sailing through the idyllic Aurlandsfjord, before the boat continues through the narrow Nærøyfjord before arriving Gudvangen at the inner end.

The trip takes around two hours one way. When starting in Gudvangen, you go the opposite direction. To get back to your starting point, we recommend booking tickets for the corresponding shuttle bus.

The UNESCO listed fjord landscape

West Norwegian Fjords - Nærøyfjord and Geirangerfjord have been enlisted on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2005. According to UNESCO, the two fjords are considered as archetypical fjord landscapes which have more or less been untouched in modern times and among the most scenically outstanding anywhere.

The fjord has mostly stayed untouched in modern times and no road connections means the only way to properly explore it is by boat. From the fjord cruise you will have first class views to the spectacular landscape with old farms and idyllic fjord villages which has stayed the same for centuries.

A sustainable choice

Future of The Fjords is fully electrical, meaning it minimizes its environmental impact on the UNESCO listed fjord. Being powered by batteries also mean there is no noise pollution, to the benefit for passengers and wildlife alike.

It takes approx. 20 minutes to charge the batteries at the quays in Gudvangen and Flåm, and the dock in Gudvangen doubles as charging station and storage of grey and brown water from the boat.

In case of ice on the Nærøyfjord

During longer periods with cold weather in the winter, the innermost part of the Nærøyfjord may freeze. When that happens, a special ice route is operated. The cruise operates on the Aurlandsfjord between Flåm and Undredal, with a detour into Sagfossen waterfall in the Nærøyfjord. You will be shuttled by bus between Undredal and Gudvangen.
