Located at the terminus of the unique Flåmsbana, and with the UNESCO World Heritage Site Nærøyfjord nearby, Fretheim Hotel has been attracting guests from all over the world since the end of the 19th century. In few places are fjords and mountains more beautiful and dramatic than in Flåm.

At Fretheim Hotel in Flåm, you can choose between several different room categories, all offering nice views of the surrounding fjord landscape and most of them facing the Aurlandsfjord. In total, the hotel has 122 rooms that all are non-smoking and almost all are carpet-free.

Each of the 17 historic rooms is unique, both in size and in color theme. All rooms are decorated with beautiful, antique furniture and a unique atmosphere. The bathrooms also reflect the history with gilded taps and bathtubs with lion's feet in some rooms. All rooms have king-size double beds and a Nespresso coffee machine. Bathrobe and slippers are included. Our Historic Rooms do not have a TV

The rooms at the barn are furnished with good beds, lace curtains, crocheted bedspreads and a cozy atmosphere. The 5 bedrooms all have a sink in the room, and a shared bathroom with toilet, sink and shower.

A beautiful hotel with culture and history
The hotel was built in Swiss style at the end of the 19th century. Over the years, the hotel has been expanded in line with the flow of tourists. The oldest part of the hotel has been restored with beautiful details, with fireplaces and antique furniture both in the living rooms, the library, the corporate rooms and the historic guest rooms.
Historical Fretheim Hotel has many and long traditions, and today’s building shows the adaption from the hotel’s beginning until today. The newest part of the hotel was completed in year 2000 and a glass facade links the new part with the historical part from 1870 – 1970.

Ever since the middle of the 19th century, Flåm has been a favorite place for tourists, when English Lords entered the Sognefjord with their boats in search of new areas for hunting and fishing.
They were accommodated on the farm of Flåm's richest man, Christen Fretheim and soon the Fretheim Hotel saw the light of day.With the past as a source of inspiration, Fretheim Hotel can offer close encounters with the best of the parish's culture through short-traveled tastes, spectacular views of the fjord and mountains and interiors and furnishings that take you back in time.
